Getting ready to purchase a used B6200 HST with 60" belly mower, blade, and snow blower. I'm new to the Kubota line and would like to know if someone could give me some history on this tractor model. Any major problems I should look for? What's the difference between the 6100 and the 6200? I don't see many 6200's on the web to do much research on. (Concerned that this may be a bad sign)

My buddy that sells Deere has a G5200 and he loves his. Got it for a good price on a trade in. Those are nice little tractors! ....

I bought my first, and only, Kubota last spring and it's been terrific. It's a 1990 B6200 with 60" belly mower and rear blade. I learned on this website that the B5200, 6200 and 7200 are great little machines. I have also found that resale value is excellent, although that goes for most Kubota products. I would recommend this model to anybody, provided it's in good condition and the price is fair

Thanks to you all for the information. It looks like this will be a great deal for me.... now the follow-up question.
What kind of FEL would you recommend putting on this tractor? I've looked through the threads and I don't see anything specific for this tractor. I understand that it does not have power steering so the loader will make steering a bit more difficult, but I don't plan on using it for commercial purposes, just around the house (hauling firewood, moving dirt/gravel, minor grading, etc.) ....

Find one that gives support to the rear axle like the kubota loaders. 500lbs lift is more then enough for it and not having power steering. ....

Congratulations on your B6200 Kubota...as John Fundy mentioned, it is in the "family" of "B" 4200,5200,7200,etc, and very well made machines. I have two B5200 DT units for many years already, new in '87 actually, and cannot complain at all. As a footnote to Chiefs posting, do not be confused with a "G"5200 (don't know Chief if that was a typo or not), however the "G" series is the garden series variety from Kubota, where as the "B" series in question is that of the compact utility tractor series.
Your initial posting, questioned the difference between the B6100 & B6200. The primary difference, was the size. The B6100 was of earlier vintage, and offered a much smaller frame, and lighter weight than that of the B6200. Creature comforts were made better as the B6200 came to be as well. The older style pan seat was replaced with a higher backed cushioned seat - having had a B7100 with a pan seat as well, the B6200 style certainly is better on the bottom, so to speak.
The B6100's were brought into production around 1976 with the gear (DT) units, later being followed by the HST models around 1980, and were produced upto 1986. The B6200,was introduced in 1983 with the DT models, and the HST units in 1987.
Engine comparison: B6100 offered a 3cyl 14hp engine , with 11 hp at the PTO. The B6200, offered a 3cyl 15hp eng with 12.5 hp PTO.
A great after market loader for this tractor, would be made by KOYKER, (www.koyker.com), model number 110 loader. This is a very well built, and better built unit than that was offered by Orange at the time, orange had the B1630 non detachable FEL, and the B1640 detachable FEL. Though great loaders by Kubota, the Koyker offers a bit more strength and robustness where you need it - and it is about half the cost, give or take. I am presently installing another 110 on a Kubota 1550 of mine, which is a direct bolt on subframe kit with hydraulics to the tractor.
The real reason that you don't see many of these tractors around for sale, is that anyone that has one, LOVES it, and does not wish to give it up - myself included.

Willie, Your information is extremely helpful and insightful. I have decided to purchase the tractor. I am just waiting for the seller to find a bigger tractor so he can sell me the 6200. Patience is a virtue so I'm sure I will be more than happy with the tractor. As a note...I checked on the Koyker and they said they do not make a loader to fit the 6200 HST. My local Kuboto dealer recommends the Woods model. Installed will run me about $2800, so that will be my next purchase.

Not surprising that Koyker said what they said. Starting with the B1550, B1750, etc vintage, (post B5200, B6200, etc), Koyker started to build to a given unit spec, and ultimately now have a kit number for each FEL for the respective tractor it is going on. The 110 that I mentioned in the earlier posting, will infact fit on your "to be" B6200 HST. In fact, the B1550/B1750's accept the 110 FEL with the same subframe and mounts as that for the B6200HST. They come equipped with a variety of mounting holes for a variety of applications. The primary consideration areas, are the nose frame mount, the mid frame mount, and the rear differential mounting. The rest of the framing is generic.
Koyker did not have the kits available way back when for each tractor on its own, now they do. I suspect that is why they told you what they did - I know they fit...I've put them on. They just don't want to get caught up in a liability issue, rightly so.
I presently have another kit coming to me for a B6200HST that I am building up for a guy. If you decide to go with the Woods, good luck with it. I was somewhat surprised that the dealer offered it for as low as $2800. I usually cannot see them for much less than $3500 or more. Keep us posted as to how you make out.
